Dollhouse Wall Artwork Roundup & Inspiration

One of my favorite things to plan in my dollhouse is the artwork! Gone are any financial limitations you may have in real life. With a home printer and cardstock you can bring your most beloved artwork into your designs. Over the last few months I have assembled many back-up pieces of art that never quite made it into my house. But looking back through, these are some really fun pieces that I just had to share.

And who knows, maybe you also need real inspiration for your full scale house. All of these are real pieces you can purchase.

Where do I find dollhouse artwork?

I often start looking for dollhouse wall decor on my go-to e-commerce sites like Anthropologie, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, or CB2. However, a lot of these sites are pulling prints and collections from other artists, and a really easy place to find a lot of great quality art in one place is ArtfullyWalls.com

On Artfully you can browse pre-made lists or gallery wall collections. Or you can make your own collection by saving your picks and creating a “wall.”

How do I make my own dollhouse artwork?

Once you have assembled your art pieces, you can save the image file and print it onto white cardstock. If printing at home, be sure to select “High Quality” or “Best” on your printer settings. Depending on the thickness of the cardstock, often I will glue the art on top of another piece of white cardstock to make it a little thicker.

You can build wall art frames using 1/8” x 1/8” or 1/16” x 1/16” strips of basswood. These frames are easy to stain, paint, or leave as unfinished wood.

Dollhouse Wall Art Inspiration

I have made these gallery walls on Artfully Walls. You can use the links to access the individual pieces to save for your own use. These are just fun collections I’ve put together that fit my aesthetic of my house. Use these as inspiration to make your own gallery wall collections or as a way to find singular pieces.

Gallery 1 - Traditional Eclectic: Link to this Gallery Collection

This first collection is fairly neutral with a couple of pops of green and orange. I love how the gold frame in the center draws you in. Perhaps you could make a frame of gold beads to replicate it!

Gallery 2 - Funky Feminine: Link to this Gallery Collection

This second collection is still pretty neutral like the first but with more pink. This layout has only white or unframed pieces, but you could easily make it your own by adding more frame details. I think unfinished wood frames would work so nicely.

Gallery 3 - Primary Abstracts: Link to this Gallery Collection

The third collection is simple, primary colors with a little more funky subject matter. I love the quilt star and think that piece would make a great standalone option as well!

Gallery 4 - Kid-Friendly: Link to this Gallery Collection

Whether you’re making a dollhouse for a real-life kid or you need to furnish a nursery or kid’s room within a dollhouse, the fourth gallery has some great options. These pieces are the most colorful by far and were extra fun to look for.

In my own dollhouse, I did one large gallery wall in the living room and then a few singular pieces that varied in scale.

One of my favorite pieces of wall art that I made was this sea shell collectors piece. I kept tiny shells I found on the beach (always thinking of the dollhouse!) and then simply glued them to a cardstock square. I made a simple wood frame with 1/8” basswood strips. Anything can be art!
